Over the past year, along with co-founders Danielle Brunette and Sam Swartz, she has hosted the Golden Evening Makers Market at 3316 North Williams on a monthly basis. Gerfen said it started when they saw an urgent need for small businesses to stay alive when the pandemic struck.
So, in October 2020, they transformed their studio into an all-open-air market once a month.
Gerfen said they “have rotating DJs, music, booze, food and amazing local makers of all kinds” – art, candles, apothecary, ceramics, jewelry, carpentry, handmade clothing. handmade and vintage, housewares, flowers, tarot, packaged and hot foods, spirits and drinks.
Food and drinks are locally sourced and change seasonally.
“The response has been incredible and very humbling,” she told KOIN 6 News. “The community really came out to us and our mission to celebrate local manufacturers and their products. The neighborhood response has been overwhelming and people seem excited to have local produce in the heart of the Williams neighborhood. “
When asked to describe The Golden Evening, she said it “has a funky, groovy vibe with loud music and a fun photo booth.”
The October market is scheduled for Friday and Saturday October 29-30. Gerfen said they “hope to host a few holiday markets throughout the winter”.
