Parade guide: floats and music
Dunwoody’s 4th of July Parade will feature a host of special floats and music.
116th National Guard Marching Band
Founded in 1859, the 116th Georgia Army National Guard Marching Band is the oldest National Guard in existence. In 2020, many of the group took on roles in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to staff and oversee food and medical supply distribution centers, coordinating virus testing and managing quarantine facilities. In recent months, the group has returned to providing musical support for military duties and community outreach.
501st Legion Georgia Garrison
Formed in 1998, the Georgia Garrison of the 501st Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed to bring together costume enthusiasts. The group specifically promotes interest in Star Wars through community events and volunteer work.
Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps
Spirit of Atlanta was founded in 1976 as an Atlanta-based nonprofit performing arts education organization for young people. Its goal is to provide young people with stimulating, high-quality programs that focus on character and social development, leadership, self-discipline and the pursuit of excellence.
It’s Christmas in July and Santa Claus will be joining the parade. He will be accompanied by eight white cars, representing reindeer. Santa Claus will be in a red car, symbol of his sleigh. He will distribute candy canes to children along the route.
Oscar Meyer Wienermobile
The famous hot dog-shaped vehicle will join the festivities.
