Marine Layer opens a new tasting room

After producing cool climate chardonnays and pinots on the Sonoma Coast for more than a decade, Marine Layer Wines has opened a tasting room in downtown Healdsburg.

Highlighting the thick layer of fog that pours from the Pacific Ocean through the Petaluma Gap, Marine Layer Wines specializes in expressive, organic, hand-harvested wines.

Located on the east side of Healdsburg Plaza, the Marine Layer Tasting Room was designed by interior designer duo Sonoma HommeBoys as an ode to coastal California. The space has a warm feel, with intimate living rooms in natural oak and dark blue woodwork.

To match the food with the wines, Marine Layer has teamed up with soon to be opening Little Saint, an on-farm restaurant and gathering space in the old Shed building in Healdsburg run by the owners of SingleThread Kyle. and Katina Connaughton.

The opening menu includes a plate of mezze made with dips, spreads, homemade crackers and raw vegetables. The menu will evolve, depending on the seasonal products harvested at the Petit Saint farm.

The Marine Layer plus Little Saint Experience includes a plate of mezze and a flight of five wines for $ 50. Customers can order a flight of five wines for $ 35.

Vintners Resort celebrates heritage with Italian dinners

Vintners Resort will celebrate the rich Italian heritage of its property and the surrounding vineyards with two alfresco dining in early October at its signature restaurant, John Ash & Co.

Guest Chef Stefano Masanti will prepare an Italian meal at 6:30 p.m. on October 6 with the help of the culinary gardener and the resort’s culinary team. Masanti will use ingredients from Sonoma County to give patrons the flavor of its Michelin-starred restaurant, Il Cantinone, in the town of Madesimo in the Italian Alps. The dinner will feature V. Sattui Wines. The cost is $ 170, including wine, taxes and tip.

Guests can also get together for a family dinner on Sunday at 5 p.m. on October 10. The multi-course meal, prepared by Executive Chef Tom Schmidt, will be served in a family style and paired with Italian wines from Chigazola Merchants. The cost is $ 175 per person, including wine, taxes and tip.

The owners of the Vintners Resort, Rhonda Carano and her late husband, Don, are both second-generation Italian Americans. Their Italian roots helped shape their vision of the resort as a gathering place to celebrate food, wine, family and friends.

Pop-up Oktoberfest at Miracle Plum Kitchen

The Miracle Plum Kitchen will be offering an Oktoberfest pop-up Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., featuring products from Sonoma Mountain Breads and Woodlands Charcuterie.

The menu includes Henhouse Beer Bratwurst on a Sonoma Mountain Bread Potato Bun with Sautéed Onions; Lamb merguez sausage with Sonoma Mountain Bread flaky flatbread, labneh and spicy marinated cauliflower; and Spicy Apple Upset Olive Oil Cake.

Carneros Resort welcomes autumn with gardens, music

Carneros Resort and Spa, a 28-acre resort in the Carneros area, has introduced new programs to celebrate fall in Napa Valley.

The resort kicked off the harvest season with new elevated culinary gardens in front of its restaurant, Farm at Carneros. The new gardens feature 50 varieties of organic herbs and vegetables as well as fresh eggs from the resort’s chicken coop.

Managed by culinary gardener Marley Dawson and new chef John Carney, Farm’s garden-to-table menu has reached new heights. Later this year, a new outdoor gathering table will give diners a more intimate experience in the garden, including picking their own produce, cooking demonstrations and family-style meals.

Farm at Carneros will also launch a new monthly series, Vinyl and Wine, on Friday evenings starting at 5 p.m. this Friday. This evening will feature the wines of Scribe Winery in Sonoma.

The series also includes a raw bar station, small bites, and a rotating list of Napa and Sonoma guest wineries serving wines by the glass.

Carneros Resort and Spa offers three on-site dining destinations: Farm at Carneros, Boon Fly Cafe, and Hilltop Dining Room, as well as an upscale general store, Market.

Dr. Wilkinson’s Adds New “Healthy Hour”

Newly remodeled Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort & Mineral Springs has added new fall programs including a “Healthy Hour” and “Hedonist Walk”.

House of Better, the resort’s restaurant and bar, has added Chef Trevor Logan’s touch to the traditional happy hour: “The Healthy Hour” from 2 pm to 5 pm daily (except Tuesdays). Promotions include 50% off the Remedies drink menu, with libations such as Fire Cider Wellness Tonic and Lev’s Shrub, a fermentation of black currant or hibiscus mixed with sparkling soda and lemon.

The “Hike for Hedonists” experience includes a handy cooler backpack with a picnic for two and House of Better drinks to take along on one of three local hiking trails. The experience costs $ 45 to $ 65 per person, depending on the lunch option chosen.

The resort also has a “Six Packed” offering, with in-room refrigerators stocked with six packs of drinks from some of the area’s craft breweries, wineries, and kombucha producers. The offer is priced at $ 25 to $ 40, depending on beverage choice.
