I’m not always a fan of combining sweet and savory flavors, but puff pastry is such a versatile ingredient in terms of flavor and cooking styles that it tastes mouth-watering whether you make it a savory or sweet snack.

Today’s recipe is made with Oreo Sprouts – a cookie sandwich wrapped in puff pastry – and baked to golden perfection, using just two ingredients, Oreo and puff pastry!

The combined taste of the two popular items, cookies and puff pastry, is sure to delight even the pickiest of eaters. And making it so easy that the laziest of cooks and non-cooks will add it to their list of favorite things to do.

You can use any sandwich cookie inside and even add chocolate spread or Nutella.

Although preparing them was so easy, the best part was the pleasant surprise that struck people when tasting, as these puffs look so much like chicken patties that no one expected a cookie sandwich. interior.

These are perfect teatime treats or even midnight snacks. I easily reheated them in the microwave and can’t say how long they can be kept as they were quickly finished.

I made about 16 puffs using a 500g packet of store-bought puff pastry and used regular sized Oreos.

Ingredients

• 16 Oreo cookies

• 500 g of puff pastry

• 1 egg, lightly beaten (optional)

Method

Preheat the oven to 400 ° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

Roll the puff pastry evenly, neither too thick nor too thin, about half a centimeter. Place an Oreo on it and select a cup or bottle cap about an inch wide. Now cut out circles and place the Oreo on one piece, then cover it with another piece of puff pastry. Gently press the sides with your fingers to seal it, then use the tip of a fork to press and make little bump marks around the edges. This not only looks great, but also seals the two pieces together.

Then brush with the beaten egg, but this is optional. I always like to brush beaten eggs on anything I bake with puff pastry as it gives a nice color and shine to the surface.

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Your Oreo cabbages are ready to be tasted!
