City Shares Holiday Recycling Tips

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City’s Solid Waste Department would like to remind everyone that the holidays are a great time to recycle and CLEAN. Here are some tips to help you achieve this.

Recyclable items (belong to the blue carts)

  • Cardboard boxes. Remember to flatten before placing in your recycling basket!
  • Seasonal mail, vacation catalogs, magazines and newspapers.
  • Empty, clean and dry tin and aluminum cans.
  • Plastic bottles with lids or caps removed.

Drop off at the JC Elliott transfer station (Hwy 286 to Ayers Street)

  • Cooking fat or peanut oil.
  • Motor oil, pesticides, paints and cleaners.
  • Lithium batteries.
  • Glass bottles or containers.
  • Computers, printers or scanners.
  • Living Christmas trees.

Non-recyclable items (belong to green carts)

  • Disposable C, D and AA batteries.
  • Holiday ribbons, bows, garlands, fairy lights and ornaments.
  • Styrofoam, bubble wrap and padded envelopes.
  • Gift boxes, wrapping paper and greeting cards with glitter or foil.
  • Wreaths or garlands.
