Capri Sun beverages recalled due to cleaning solution contamination

Aug. 16, 2022 – More than 5,700 cases of Capri Sun Wild Cherry beverages are being recalled due to potential contamination from cleaning solution, according to a recall notice from Kraft Heinz.

A dilute cleaning solution, used on food processing equipment, was accidentally introduced into a production line at one of the company’s factories. Only the Wild Cherry flavor with some packaging information was affected.

“The issue was discovered after we received several consumer complaints regarding the taste of the affected product,” Kraft Heinz said in the statement. “The company is actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove potentially affected products from circulation.”

Consumers who have purchased these products should not drink them and can return them to the stores where they were purchased, Kraft Heinz said.

The products include an expiration date of June 25, 2023. The drink is sold in foil pouches packed in cartons.

The manufacturer’s code on the pouch is “25JUN2023 WXX LYY ####”, where XX is 01 to 10, YY is 01 to 12, and #### is 0733 to 0900. The manufacturer’s code on the carton is “25JUN2023 WXX #### CT1404”, where XX runs from 01 to 03 and #### runs from 0733 to 1000. The carton UPC code is 087684001004.

Consumers can call Kraft Heinz at 800-280-8252 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to check if a product is part of the recall and to get a refund.

The news comes after Kraft Heinz issued a recall last November for certain Country Time Lemonade, Kool-Aid, Tang and Arizona Tea powdered beverages due to the presence of foreign objects, including small pieces of metal or glass. that were introduced during production.
