He added, “But you athletes and you influencers who have all these sponsors and marketers behind you pushing promotions to the plebs who buy your shit, where’s your voice? Why are none of you talking?
“The very people who buy your fucking deodorants, moisturizers, candles and Nike shoes, whatever they are, are the very people who buy who are affected the most by this shit.”
Bogut says he got an offer to make a paid public ad to “stay home” last year, but said, “I refuse to do this shit.”
“The silence is deafening. Let me give you the reason.
“Last year, about three or four months after the start of this pandemic… I was offered money to put up a public service announcement, so that you, the everyday plebs, stay up to date. House. It would have been something like this: “Hi, I’m Andrew Bogut… it’s your job to stay home. Do whatever it takes for the community ”.
“’You stay at home, do what is necessary for the community, we are all in the same boat”. I refuse to do this shit.
“I don’t need to depend on anyone for my money. I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine. So I’m enemy number one, because I’m not on nobody’s pacifier. They can’t silence me, ”Bogut continued.
“For those of you who are scratching your heads in these difficult times thinking, ‘Where are all these people, these influencers, these sports stars that I supported with my minimum wage or my middle class wage, by buying my children’s swimsuits and tickets? – Where are these people? Why can’t they fight for me? ‘ This is your reason.
A host of Australian Olympic stars appeared in Tokyo Olympics television coverage calling on people to get vaccinated, while the NRL worked with the government on a “Tackle this Together” campaign featuring players like Nathan Cleary , Wade Graham, Damien Cook and Christian Welch.
