7 new things to look forward to in Norwich in 2022

From a new 300-seat arena to the West End shows coming to the city, there’s a lot to look forward to in Norwich in 2022.
1. Street food and live entertainment venue
The castle district’s top-floor food court will be transformed into a street food and live entertainment venue in 2022.
It will be operated by Market Asset Management and the company is currently seeking local businesses to get involved, with details on its Facebook page.
One of the units will sell alcohol and there will be live and recorded music and occasional movie screenings.
2. Take-out and Oishii Street Kitchen restaurant
Oishii Street Kitchen serves Asian street food and it’s a collaboration between Moco Kitchen and The Hen House Kitchen, both of which are Norwich street food trucks.
Oishii launched in October 2020 take out and after successful residencies at Chambers Cocktail Company and The Earlham, it opens its own premises in January at 12 Distillery Square.
3. GoGoDiscover 2022
Following the success of the GoGoDiscover Norwich T. Rex Trail in 2021, it is coming back bigger and better for 2022.
Running for 10 weeks from June 27 to September 10, the Family Trail will feature even more dinosaurs in Norwich and a mighty herd of Steppe Mammoth sculptures from across Norfolk.
It is delivered by Break, an East Anglian-based children’s charity, in partnership with Wild in Art, and all of the sculptures are decorated.
4. The block
A new 300-seat arena entirely made up of shipping containers is expected to open in the Surface car park near Mountergate in Norwich.
The multi-million pound site is slated to start hosting events around Easter 2022 and currently has clearance to be up for a year.
The developer is Teampartner Three and the plans also include a food court.
5. Avo
Richard Watts is set to open a burrito bar next to The Murderers pub in Timber Hill in January.
Mr. Watts has developed his own secret burrito recipe for his new business and he plans to serve Redwell beer on tap.
6. Carrow Road Concerts
Two of the world’s greatest performers will arrive at Carrow Road Stadium in 2022.
Las Vegas rockers The Killers will take the stage on June 9, after the show was postponed due to the pandemic, for their Imploding the Mirage tour.
On June 15, global icon Elton John will kick off the UK leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Norwich.
7. West End shows
You don’t need to fork out for expensive London train tickets and hotels to watch West End shows, as many come to the Norwich Theater Royal.
This includes The Book of Mormon (January 25-February 5), School of Rock (March 15-19), Dreamgirls (May 31-June 11), We Will Rock You (June 20-25) and Mamma Mia! (October 4 to 22).
